Lead your party out of the dungeon in Dungeon Rats

Dungeon Rats is a turn-based dungeon-crawling RPG set in the world of 2015's Age of Decadence. In Dungeon Rats, you're thrown into the lowest level of an underground prison and must battle your way to the top and to freedom. Along the way you'll advance your skills, find and craft new weapons, and recruit members to join your party.

The fight of your life

Dungeon Rats is a tough, tactical challenge that will require planning and perseverance to defeat. The detailed combat system is the main focus of the game, providing lots of opportunities to strategise. You'll need to keep careful track of your positioning, as outflanking or surrounding enemies can be the key to victory. Strategy doesn't end on the battlefield, though -- you also need to recruit up to four members to your party, design and craft weapons and manage your character's progression. Skill points accumulate for the whole party, so very large parties will advance slowly; you'll have to balance the benefits and disadvantages of adding more followers. The difficulty is adjustable, which is good news -- even on standard difficulty, this is a game for people who don't mind dying frequently and learning from their mistakes.

Mostly combat with just enough story

Dungeon Rats poses a rewarding tactical challenge. It has a story, but it's a little thin. Still, if you're a fan of tactical RPGs, it's a challenge worth accepting.

PROS

  • Rewarding combat challenges
  • Interesting and detailed mechanics

CONS

  • Very high difficulty level
  • Simple linear story
